Shana Steals My Him Heang Biscuit

Been busying the last few days with my exams and got a Hang-Over after my trial. O.o" Life's tough and it sux. But can't help it. I haven't got the mood to post any writting for the last few days and I haven't even touch my LX3 since then.

After one week and I'm back here!! Hahaha... While browsing through my photos I noticed that some uploaded pictures have not been written up. So I decided, my Shana is changing her favourite food from the usual melon-pan to our famous Penang Him Heang Biscuit!

Actually my friend went over to Penang for a few days holiday. Thus, I asked her to order some of their local delicacies. When I got it home, Shana just couldn't stand still and were so excited to try out the biscuit.

The biscuit in Hokkien we usually call it Tau Sar Piah (豆沙并) or literally translated Bean Paste Biscuit. This prompted me to wonder, why westerners made more breads and easterner make more biscuits! Have you ever thought of that?

"It taste sure good. With green bean taste, slightly sweet abit. Yummy!"

I heard there are other similar baker who bake this nicer. One day I should take a few days leave and go over Penang for a Holiday. ^.^

Thinking of Eating Japanese Food

It's been a while since I had my Japanese Cruisine. It was in Kluang at that time when I visited my cousin. Visited Idori Sushi~

Take a sip~ Ah~ The freshness of green tea warmly soak up your mouth quenching your thirst. Yes I prefer warm tea rather than cold tea even though the taste is still the same. The cold tea would actually freeze the food in my stomach and make me hard to digest. I would eventually have stomach pain. >.<"

A typical serving in a Japanese restaurant, you would see the shoyu sauce, wasabi and toothpick? It's so elegantly made with ancient Chinese writing?

The settings are romantic as well. Further inside there's individual private room for people who don't want to share the public atmosphere.

Here's the counter, nicely decorated. Usually a typical would have seats in front of the counter and the chef would serves fresh sushis. You can see how they demonstrate their skills. ^.^

The boss actually spend alot of money decorating this place. I guess the whole restaurant would nearly cost them a million or two for such designs. But in a small town like Kluang? Well, they're just too rich aren't they? ^.^

With plates like this, it's just so authentic! >.<" There's poem on your plate and it's with chop sign some more! Food have become poetic eh?

From a different perspective. Wanted to go look closer at the ship. But just plain too tired to walk around. Besides, mum said we need to sit properly in our seat during every meal? Table Manners? ^.^;;

While I can't make out what's the last word which is written in old chinese/japanese. It's actually the name of the restaurant -- Idori Sushi.

So as I was saying, the setting is nice, the tableware is so classic. Everything looks so classy liek you are in a fine dining restaurant. So where's the food?! O.o"

Really long time din't go for a Japanese Food already. After reading Myhorng's Tenji Japanese Buffet, really determine to go eat liao la~! Wazen! After my exam I will go! ^.^

Have you been to Kluang Rail Coffee?

Everytime I passed by Tesco Melaka, I'll always see numberous people sitting in the Kluang Station Coffee drinking coffee and eating laksa. Then I would wonder, coffee and laksa are just so common in Malaysia. Why are people paying such a premium price for such a simple food in Malaysia?!

Travelling down south, I sure have to passby this place. If not I couldn't say I've been to Kluang! Yes! It's the Kluang Rail Coffee! The one that you and I saw it in Tesco Melaka? That's a copy cat shop. The original Kluang Coffee comes from here!

The place is simply simple! With two shop lots located just in the railway station of Kluang. That's why it's called Kluang Rail(way) Coffee. Above is the kitchen where they make your coffee, tea, milo or whatsoever drinks that you ordered.

Here's the counter and food storage. They prepare your bread and mee siam or nasi lemak here. Simple isn't it? But look closely! They are using an LCD cashing machine to keep track of collections! High tech right in such a lowly shop. ^.^;;

The menu are pretty simple too! They offer all the usual coffee shop drinks: coffee, coffee-O, Tea, Teah-O, Milo, Milo-O.... The foods are basically, white toast bread with kaya and margarine, white toast bread with kaya and butter, brown toast bread with kaya and margarine, brown toast bread with kaya and butter. Period. That's all.

This is your teh-sii(milk tea with alot of milk) and this is your white coffee. Nothing grand and it cost you RM1.50. Cheap right? Compare to the one you drink in Tesco Melaka, definately!

And this is the settings. Nothing grand either. The place are tightly squeezed. Everybody have to be tolerance, give and take.

The other side. Tables are limited but plastic chairs are abundance. The main customers there are mostly Malays. Civil servants especially who stop by for a drink at around 3 something before going back to work.

Here's the brown bread with kaya and margarine. Two slices of brown bread cut into havles before served. The taste? Not bad actually! It's quite crispy and the kaya made it sweet~

And here's the white bread. Yeah, it doesn't seems white right? Well it's more like a bun bread actually. Inside is white that is. ^.^ Toasted crunchy before being swiped with juicy sweet kaya and tender-oily margarine. Yum yum~

Alright, I know some will say, "Wah! This will make me fat man! It's gonna add more colesterol to your blood vein!" >.<" Geez! Who cares, it's good food righ?! ^.^ Yummy! Itadakimasu! :P

Kopi-O Adventure

Previously I blogged about my visit to my cousin's place. Continuing on the journey...It was too boring staying in the palm oil estate. So we decided to tunnel out and find for what the local is famous for.

First up was this coffee house. Our eldest uncle had called up my cousin a few time to order some coffee power! So we end up in this coffee factory which was regard as SUPERBLY GOOD by my uncle.

Kluang Kopi-O Cap TV! Yeah who would ever thought of a TV brand right? ^.^" Nevertheless, it's actually quite popular not only within the locals, but we also saw Singaporeans and Taiwanese dropped by to buy!

When we went in to the shop, the manager there mistaken us as some reporters because I brought my LX3 inside. They gave us a CD inside with all the photos and history and some promotional materials for write up. I think they had pre-arrangement with some magazine or newspaper for a write up. We returned them after clarify that we are just their customers. ^.^ Hey couz! We should go into the factory and take a tour right? It would be cool to do so! Kekeke...

They prepared their coffee mostly in instant packaging. I guess people now is either too lazy to make their own drink or have less time for it. But I would say, you can only differentiate its quality and taste if only they do it for you isn't it? ;)

Still, if you prefer the traditional way of brewing your own coffee. You can opt for the coffee power! ^.^ Noticed that all its packaging written Kopi-O? Yup. They are famous for its coffee without milk or creamer. Otherwise it wouldn't taste like its famous Kopi-O isn't it? ^.^

I noticed that alot of small towns in the southern region are famous for their coffee powder. People would purposely travel/ordered their coffee from these township. But you don't usually hear or order such brands of coffee in big cities. I think city guys prefer Starbucks, Coffee Beans, Arabian Coffee (McD), etcs which are so westernized and expensive! ^.^

Yeap! That's the big logo sign there! TV Brand. I guess the founder likes to watch television or he got inspired when he noticed people who watch TVs at that time likes to drink coffee or who drinks coffee likes to watch TV. Have you seen any coffee brand that's LCD or PC? ^.^"

P/S: Dear colleagues. I've placed 1 bag of kopi-o in the cabinet intended to share with you guys. Please don't be shy to take it if you want to try. No harm changing taste from the usual nescafe? ^.^

Dynasty Bread & Snack

Recently friend had been keep on asking me out for a drink at night. We've been trying quite a number of coffee house around town. Might be sharing some experience dining in of and on. As of now, I'm just going to talk about some snacks I had in during my "Talk Kok" session in Dynasty.

Since that time I just had my dinner not long but my mouth is still itchy and scratching won't works, I decided to ordered a margarine toast bread worth RM0.50. The margarine was rich enough and the bread was soft. Did I say soft?! I thought I ordered a toasted bread? Yeah, the bread wasn't toasted enough.

In no time, I finished it. After some chat, my mouth felt itchy again, so I ordered another toast bread. This time, I specifically ordered it to be toasted more. What i expect it was it would be alittle bit brown in the bottom part. Instead....

...it turned out to be the same. =.=" I remember last time when I was in my uncle's place where they use the old school method, toast the bread with charcoal to golden brown. Then after that swipe with a layer of kaya and sugared margarine. I really love them at that time.

But this time, I'm eating my bread with assorted egg. Assorted not as in chicken egg + duck egg + ostrich egg. But, assorted as in there's ham, hotdog, onions and garlic inside. Everything was put into the egg, beaten and fried on a hot plate. It tasted good!

My friend ordered a plate of western food. It came with 2 slice of orange, mayonased salad, some frieds and its main course, grilled chicken? The plate was litter ally too big which makes the food so unsorted/undecorated.

But according to my friend, it's good. The price came up not too expensive too.

I ordered a Cold Lychee White Fungus for desert. The pot/mug/container came on top of a plate filled with ice. It seems that they put the pot on the glass plate first before filling it up with water. After that they let it freeze. When customer like me ordered, they would then only take it out, pour in the fruits drink and serves.

I don't actually like to drink or eat this way because when you top up your plates to eat, they say that you're topping up your debts. And it seems like I've been in debts way long.... But since this kind of serving is quite different from your normal food, I guess I will just let it go and just enjoy the dessert.

Inside, there's too many white fungus. They were generous in that but stingy in their lychee. I only got 2. I finish the fungus and the water first before I took the lychees. It was cooling though, and it's not that sweet.

While eating and chatting, I also took out my LX3 to shoot of course. Was playing with the aperture priority mode again. Since it was at night and the lightings weren't bright enough. Decided to "buka lubang besar besar" to shoot~ *grin*

The panda is cute! Half submerged in the ice. Will he turn from a panda bear become a pollar bear? ^.^" I wonder where did the owner got this kind of pot. In fact, most of the dining plates that they serve are very unique and looks very authentic.

After taking the food and shooting, I only realized that I had not taken any picture of the interior. But at that time, we were about to leave. Maybe will come over and take again some other time. Overall the food's good and the price is reasonable.

White Day Sugars

I'm sure not many of you know what's so special about today. Yes, it's White Day! Exactly 1 month right after Valentine's Day. So what do you do during White Day? Not many of us celebrates it here. For those guys who receive gifts or chocolate on Valentine's Day, better make a point to get some in return for her. ^.^;;
